Electronic Icons: Pop Art Brutus Monroe

Hello all! Happy Monday! I’m sharing this super fun card inspired by “Pop Art” today. I used stamps from the Electronic Icons stampset and colored them in with alcohol markers. I arranged them on coordinating Brutus Monroe cardstock and toppped it off with a sentiment from the “You are” stampset. This came together quickly but think it’s a super fun technique that I’ll be using more often! BRU Codes: BRU5451 "Brutus Monroe | Cardstock | 8.5""x11"" | Buttercream"                         BRU5505 "Brutus Monroe | Cardstock | 8.5""x11"" | Poison Apple"                         BRU6540 "Brutus Monroe | Cardstock | 8.5""x11"" | Flamingo"                        BRU5550 "Brutus Monroe | Cardstock | 8.5""x11"" | Heather"                    ...

Ink Blending Techniques: AECP

Hello everyone! I’ve been working away diligently on the AECP courses and loving every minute. This card is inspired by the “Ink Blending Techniques” course taught by Amy Lee.  First I masked off a border from the card panel, so that when I ink blend I would be left with a thick white border. I combined a few techniques discussed in the course such as the emboss resist and ink blending the background panel. I embossed the flowers from the “Charming Flowers” stampset in white. This might be an exclusive stampset from the “SCT Crop and Create” event since I am not finding it on the website.  Then I ink blended Distress Oxides in Picked Raspberry, Seedless Grapes, and Blueprint Sketch on top. I chose darker colors to really show a strong contrast against the white embossing. It looks stunning! Next, I cut out the “Hello Friend” sentiment from the  Craft Your Life Project Kit: Sunshine Flowers . I did the background in vellum to soften the look and did the sentime...

For The Guys: AECP

Hey all! I’m back with another card for my AECP journey! Today, I am showing a card inspired by the “For the Guys” class taught by Jennifer Rzasa. I think most of us can agree that masculine cards are HARD. Luckily, the techniques taught in this class made it easy to put this card together!  I used the “Geometric” technique discussed in the course and used the  Grid Stencil  to create the background. I originally wanted to ink blend but then I decided to use the  Acrylic Markers . I really wanted that deep, saturated look and these markers were perfect! They are very opaque and loved the color range. I used shades of blue, gray and black and colored them randomly to create the background. For the sentiment, I used the Birthday Wishes  stampset. I did a light stamping of numbers to accent the birthday sentiment. I mounted the card panel on black cardstock to finish off the card! Thanks for stopping by! Follow me on  Instagram ...

Celebration Stencil Techniques: AECP

Hello everyone! Today’s card showcases my final card after the “Celebration Stencil Techniques” class taught by Laurel Beard for  the  Altenew Educator Certification Program ! I will admit that I don’t use stencils as much as I should..and when I do it is the very basic ink blending use that they are typically used for. I was delighted (and maybe a little scared?!) to see the various ways to use techniques in this class!  The main one I wanted to focus on was using embossing in the background. I used a gorgeous Rose gold embossing powder on the  Deco Wallpaper Stencil . I decided to give it a more “grungy” look by not embossing the whole panel and letting it fade out towards the top. I love how it turned out. I am all for adding as much shine and shimmer as possible so I love this technique.  Next I used the  Craft Your Life Project Kit: Sunshine Flowers  stamp and stencil to create the floral images. I used the layering stencil and love ho...

Clean & Simple Boutique: AECP

Hello everyone! I’m here sharing my final card after completing the “Clean & Simple Boutique” cards taught by Jennifer Rzasa. This is part of  the  Altenew Educator Certification Program  that I am so honored to be a part of!  Out of all the classes I have taken so far, THIS has to be my favorite! There were so many techniques and tips in this class I actually ended up jotting down notes so I wouldn’t forget!  I will say my style is evolving, but most of my cards tend to gravitate towards the “Clean and Simple” (CAS) look so this was right up my alley. I definitely went out of my comfort zone with some of the methods here.  The main technique that unfortunately is so hard to capture on camera, is the “Faux Letterpress/Embossing” technique for the sentiment. I couldn’t stop running my fingers over the sentiment because I loved the embossed feel it gave to the card. I used the  Timeless Sentiment Die set The next method I want...

[Snow Much] CAS Brutus Monroe Card

Isnt this snowman just SO adorable!? To create this card, I  started off ink blending a soft halo of blue on a card panel. I minimally colored the snowman and propped it on top of the blue halo with foam squares. Lastly, I  stamped some snow prints in the background and embellished with Red flat back crystals! This card came together so seamlessly!  Thanks for stopping by! Follow me on  Instagram  for more cards, reels and crafty fun! Jill
