Celebration Stencil Techniques: AECP

Hello everyone! Today’s card showcases my final card after the “Celebration Stencil Techniques” class taught by Laurel Beard for the Altenew Educator Certification Program! I will admit that I don’t use stencils as much as I should..and when I do it is the very basic ink blending use that they are typically used for. I was delighted (and maybe a little scared?!) to see the various ways to use techniques in this class!

The main one I wanted to focus on was using embossing in the background. I used a gorgeous Rose gold embossing powder on the Deco Wallpaper Stencil. I decided to give it a more “grungy” look by not embossing the whole panel and letting it fade out towards the top. I love how it turned out. I am all for adding as much shine and shimmer as possible so I love this technique.

Next I used the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Sunshine Flowers stamp and stencil to create the floral images. I used the layering stencil and love how the layers give depth and complexity to the the images! I just needed to use two colors to create the flower body and two colors for the leaves! Stunning!

Finally, I trimmed the floral image and positioned the “leftover” cuts along the sides of the card to create more of a full look. I added a sentiment from the same stamp set and added some embellishments!

[Salt and Pepper] Brutus Monroe

Hey all! Valentine's Day is right around the corner!  I created this card by cutting  paper strips from the "Be Mine" Paper pad and staggering them on the left side. Then I stamped the "Salt&Pepper" stamp and sentiment using Detail Ink in Raven and colored it in with alcohol markers.  Thanks for stopping by! [Oceans of Joy] Multi-Occasion Card

I am still building my cardmaking collection, and it is SO easy to get into the blackhole of buying endless craft supplies. I really need to stop myself. I came across this adorable ocean themed stamp set,  Oceans of Joy , from Sunny Studio Stamps! Head on over to my Instagram to see a reel on how I made this card!     I wanted to create a fun wavey background so I took some scrap cardstock and cut a "wave" pattern and used it as my stencil with a blending sponge and my Stampin' Up spot inks. I LOVE how it turned out. I wanted to add more texture so I purposefully blended with differing pressures to get some texture in the background. I can't wait to make and use more stencils in my cardmaking. I stamped the sentiment, whale, crab, and water images using my misty on some textured white cardstock and colored in using my Prismacolor colored pencils. In hindsight, I wish I had used a smooth white cardstock instead, as it makes the coloring look a little messier than I...

All About Layering 3: AECP

Hello everyone! Happy New Year!! I was recently accepted into the Altenew Educator Certification Program and can’t think of a better way to start off the year!  I think anyone who is a floral lover knows that Altenew has some of THE best stamps, dies and stencils. It was one of the first brands I purchased when I started out my paper crafting journey. Of course, they have so much more than florals in their shop and I am so excited to dive into this process. I’ve already started some of the classes and it has really reinvigorated my passion for crafting and card making. I’ve brushed on some techniques and also picked up some really great tips along the way! Let’s take a closer look at the first class I completed… The first class I did was the “All About Layering 3” course taught by Lydia Evans. To be honest, I went into this course thinking I was a Layering Expert (dare I say, Layering Queen .. I don’t think I’ve ever made a card without some sort of layering)…but to my surprise, I...
