Ink Blending Techniques: AECP

Hello everyone! I’ve been working away diligently on the AECP courses and loving every minute. This card is inspired by the “Ink Blending Techniques” course taught by Amy Lee.

First I masked off a border from the card panel, so that when I ink blend I would be left with a thick white border. I combined a few techniques discussed in the course such as the emboss resist and ink blending the background panel. I embossed the flowers from the “Charming Flowers” stampset in white. This might be an exclusive stampset from the “SCT Crop and Create” event since I am not finding it on the website.

Then I ink blended Distress Oxides in Picked Raspberry, Seedless Grapes, and Blueprint Sketch on top. I chose darker colors to really show a strong contrast against the white embossing. It looks stunning!

Next, I cut out the “Hello Friend” sentiment from the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Sunshine Flowers. I did the background in vellum to soften the look and did the sentiment in white. I embellished with some gems and mounted the card on dark purple cardstock.

[Salt and Pepper] Brutus Monroe

Hey all! Valentine's Day is right around the corner!  I created this card by cutting  paper strips from the "Be Mine" Paper pad and staggering them on the left side. Then I stamped the "Salt&Pepper" stamp and sentiment using Detail Ink in Raven and colored it in with alcohol markers.  Thanks for stopping by! [Oceans of Joy] Multi-Occasion Card

I am still building my cardmaking collection, and it is SO easy to get into the blackhole of buying endless craft supplies. I really need to stop myself. I came across this adorable ocean themed stamp set,  Oceans of Joy , from Sunny Studio Stamps! Head on over to my Instagram to see a reel on how I made this card!     I wanted to create a fun wavey background so I took some scrap cardstock and cut a "wave" pattern and used it as my stencil with a blending sponge and my Stampin' Up spot inks. I LOVE how it turned out. I wanted to add more texture so I purposefully blended with differing pressures to get some texture in the background. I can't wait to make and use more stencils in my cardmaking. I stamped the sentiment, whale, crab, and water images using my misty on some textured white cardstock and colored in using my Prismacolor colored pencils. In hindsight, I wish I had used a smooth white cardstock instead, as it makes the coloring look a little messier than I...

All About Layering 3: AECP

Hello everyone! Happy New Year!! I was recently accepted into the Altenew Educator Certification Program and can’t think of a better way to start off the year!  I think anyone who is a floral lover knows that Altenew has some of THE best stamps, dies and stencils. It was one of the first brands I purchased when I started out my paper crafting journey. Of course, they have so much more than florals in their shop and I am so excited to dive into this process. I’ve already started some of the classes and it has really reinvigorated my passion for crafting and card making. I’ve brushed on some techniques and also picked up some really great tips along the way! Let’s take a closer look at the first class I completed… The first class I did was the “All About Layering 3” course taught by Lydia Evans. To be honest, I went into this course thinking I was a Layering Expert (dare I say, Layering Queen .. I don’t think I’ve ever made a card without some sort of layering)…but to my surprise, I...
