Irresistible Inking Techniques: AECP

Hello everyone! Thanks for stopping by! Today I’m sharing another card for my Level 1 AECP journey. In case you didn’t know, I recently joined the Altenew Educator Certification Program and have been having a blast. I’m almost done with the Level 1 courses so let’s dive right in!

This card was inspired by the “Irresistible Inking Techniques” taught by Sara Naumann. This was a jam packed, technique heavy class, and I loved it! I decided to use multiple inking techniques discussed in the course for this card. I started off embossing a flower from the  Craft Your Life-Sunshine Flowers kit on white cardstock. I thought by embossing it, it would give me some extra boundary when painting it in. As discussed in the course, I used some of my dye inks to color in those whole flower image! Can you believe it??? I love how simple it was and the embossing really helped to contain the ink in the designated area.

I really wanted the flower to pop, so I took a black marker and colored in the panel so it looks like it was embossed on black cardstock. I topped off the flower with some metallic paste to give it extra shimmer and shine. I used sentiments from the Timeless sentiment die and and Label Love stamp set to finish off the card.

I used another technique from the course and inked the edges of my white cardstock with green to create a nice matted border on the cards panel. Since it was the same ink I used in the leaves, the border matched perfectly with the card.

[Salt and Pepper] Brutus Monroe

Hey all! Valentine's Day is right around the corner!  I created this card by cutting  paper strips from the "Be Mine" Paper pad and staggering them on the left side. Then I stamped the "Salt&Pepper" stamp and sentiment using Detail Ink in Raven and colored it in with alcohol markers.  Thanks for stopping by! All About Layering 3: AECP

Hello everyone! Happy New Year!! I was recently accepted into the Altenew Educator Certification Program and can’t think of a better way to start off the year!  I think anyone who is a floral lover knows that Altenew has some of THE best stamps, dies and stencils. It was one of the first brands I purchased when I started out my paper crafting journey. Of course, they have so much more than florals in their shop and I am so excited to dive into this process. I’ve already started some of the classes and it has really reinvigorated my passion for crafting and card making. I’ve brushed on some techniques and also picked up some really great tips along the way! Let’s take a closer look at the first class I completed… The first class I did was the “All About Layering 3” course taught by Lydia Evans. To be honest, I went into this course thinking I was a Layering Expert (dare I say, Layering Queen .. I don’t think I’ve ever made a card without some sort of layering)…but to my surprise, I...

[Oceans of Joy] Multi-Occasion Card

I am still building my cardmaking collection, and it is SO easy to get into the blackhole of buying endless craft supplies. I really need to stop myself. I came across this adorable ocean themed stamp set,  Oceans of Joy , from Sunny Studio Stamps! Head on over to my Instagram to see a reel on how I made this card!     I wanted to create a fun wavey background so I took some scrap cardstock and cut a "wave" pattern and used it as my stencil with a blending sponge and my Stampin' Up spot inks. I LOVE how it turned out. I wanted to add more texture so I purposefully blended with differing pressures to get some texture in the background. I can't wait to make and use more stencils in my cardmaking. I stamped the sentiment, whale, crab, and water images using my misty on some textured white cardstock and colored in using my Prismacolor colored pencils. In hindsight, I wish I had used a smooth white cardstock instead, as it makes the coloring look a little messier than I...
