Hello everyone! Happy New Year!! I was recently accepted into the Altenew Educator Certification Program and can’t think of a better way to start off the year!
I think anyone who is a floral lover knows that Altenew has some of THE best stamps, dies and stencils. It was one of the first brands I purchased when I started out my paper crafting journey. Of course, they have so much more than florals in their shop and I am so excited to dive into this process. I’ve already started some of the classes and it has really reinvigorated my passion for crafting and card making. I’ve brushed on some techniques and also picked up some really great tips along the way! Let’s take a closer look at the first class I completed…
The first class I did was the “All About Layering 3” course taught by Lydia Evans. To be honest, I went into this course thinking I was a Layering Expert (dare I say, Layering Queen.. I don’t think I’ve ever made a card without some sort of layering)…but to my surprise, I actually picked up lots of NEW tips and ideas!
For this card, I used the Zero-Waste Leaf Potpourri Stamp & Die Set, and die cut it four times to mimic the look of a cover plate die.
I loved how Lydia used vellum in one of her projects to create more layers and dimension so I die cut vellum four times as well and overlayed on top. The vellum really gave a soft, airy look to the card.
I embossed the “Sending Hugs” sentiment in gold and mounted it on glossy gold card stock. I used some of the little die cut pieces that came out of the die and placed them around the sentiment for even more dimension and layers.
I love how this card turned out- it’s unlike any card I’ve created before! I’m excited to learn more skills and techniques so I hope you come back to check out my future projects for the program!
Congratulations on your first submission of AECP! WOOT! Your card looks fab. Thanks for sharing yur wonderful work with us.
