[Layered Up] The Crafter's Cafe Challenge #270

Exciting news....I've joined another Design Team as part of The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog! I'm so excited for this opportunity! It's been so fun seeing the previous work of the other team members and getting to know the team.  There are challenges twice a month (on the 1st and 15th) with sponsors and prizes! Check it out and be sure to submit your creations- I can't wait to see them.

Now on to the challenge....

The theme was "Layered Up" and the digital image I chose, Fred's Dahlia's, was sponsored by Fred She Said. There's about a billion different ways you can use these floral and leaves images! Endless possibilities.

I printed these images on White cardstock (I printed the images in multiple sizes to get more variety) and colored them in using colored pencils. I embossed the flower and leave centers with gold embossing powder. I love adding little details in my cards!

The hardest part was arranging the florals..I just couldn't decide! I glued some elements down using Tomboy adhesive and then chose a few to prop to with foam squares to give that added layered interest.

I embossed the sentiment with a dark green embossing powder and then attached the panel to pink patterned cardstock. I glued it at an angle just to add some extra fun! Then, I mounted the card panel with some foam tape and embellished the with some gold liquid pearls.

I love how it turned out! And, also realized that I'm obsessed with using foam tape on my cards LOL. Anyone else have this obsession?

I've entered this card in these challenges:

[Salt and Pepper] Brutus Monroe

Hey all! Valentine's Day is right around the corner!  I created this card by cutting  paper strips from the "Be Mine" Paper pad and staggering them on the left side. Then I stamped the "Salt&Pepper" stamp and sentiment using Detail Ink in Raven and colored it in with alcohol markers.  Thanks for stopping by! [Oceans of Joy] Multi-Occasion Card

I am still building my cardmaking collection, and it is SO easy to get into the blackhole of buying endless craft supplies. I really need to stop myself. I came across this adorable ocean themed stamp set,  Oceans of Joy , from Sunny Studio Stamps! Head on over to my Instagram to see a reel on how I made this card!     I wanted to create a fun wavey background so I took some scrap cardstock and cut a "wave" pattern and used it as my stencil with a blending sponge and my Stampin' Up spot inks. I LOVE how it turned out. I wanted to add more texture so I purposefully blended with differing pressures to get some texture in the background. I can't wait to make and use more stencils in my cardmaking. I stamped the sentiment, whale, crab, and water images using my misty on some textured white cardstock and colored in using my Prismacolor colored pencils. In hindsight, I wish I had used a smooth white cardstock instead, as it makes the coloring look a little messier than I...

All About Layering 3: AECP

Hello everyone! Happy New Year!! I was recently accepted into the Altenew Educator Certification Program and can’t think of a better way to start off the year!  I think anyone who is a floral lover knows that Altenew has some of THE best stamps, dies and stencils. It was one of the first brands I purchased when I started out my paper crafting journey. Of course, they have so much more than florals in their shop and I am so excited to dive into this process. I’ve already started some of the classes and it has really reinvigorated my passion for crafting and card making. I’ve brushed on some techniques and also picked up some really great tips along the way! Let’s take a closer look at the first class I completed… The first class I did was the “All About Layering 3” course taught by Lydia Evans. To be honest, I went into this course thinking I was a Layering Expert (dare I say, Layering Queen .. I don’t think I’ve ever made a card without some sort of layering)…but to my surprise, I...
